The Impact of Social Media
1. Do you think that it is ethical for employers to check social media sites for information on a candidate prior to hiring them?
2. If 2303 managers were interviewed for this survey, and 37% use social media as part of their hiring process, and 65% of those employers were checking to see if the applicants presented themselves professionally, how many employers of the 2303 are using social media for this reason?
3. Do you believe that colleges/universities use social media to screen candidates? What leads you to this opinion?
4. Do you use social media sites? If so, which sites do you use? If not, why not?
5. 45% of employers that use social media sites as a screening process have said that they have not offered a candidate a position based on drug or excessive alcohol use, information found through social media sites. Have you witnessed peers post about such topics? Do you think that this portrayal will hinder their ability to get into a chosen institution or career?

6. Look at the graph titled “Job Loss By Quarter”. There are no values on the y-axis. Why are they needed? How does this change the graph when you are allowed to leave the y-axis out?
7. Look at the last image with percentages. What is the problem with this poll? Assuming the numbers they reported are accurate, how can this be true?
